Kanpur, Jan 4: Income Tax department has nearly completed its searches at the premises of Samajwadi Party’s (SP) Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Pushp Raj Jain alias Pumpy Jain.
Police security that was deployed at Jain’s Kanpur residence was been withdrawn today.
It may be mentioned that after searches at various premises on Monday, the IT team took Jain back to Kannauj. Police deployed at Jain’s premises in Kannauj has also been withdrawn.
Searches by the IT teams at the premises of Pumpy, who launched ‘Samajwadi Itra’, started four days back. During the searches that was carried out simultaneously at 35 places, including the MLC’s Kanpur residence, large scale tax evasion through bogus companies has been detected, sources said.
Besides, other sources of income and cash has also been detected. The IT team had also searched the residence of Pumpy Jain’s brother Atul Jain at Kanpur as well. Sources said that during searches in Kanpur, foreign transactions and that with fake companies have been detected.
Meanwhile, when Pumpy Jain’s brother was asked to comment of the action by the IT department, he said that after two days he will tell in detail about the investigation.
