UP: FIR Lodged Against Man For Triple Talaq
Jaunpur (UP), July 10: A case has been lodged against a man and his family members under The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act and other relevant sections of the India Penal Code (IPC) for giving triple Talaq to his wife in Kotwali area, police sources said here on Sunday.
Police sources said Nazia Fatma got married to Saifi Alam on March 4, 2017. “After marriage Saifi and his members, including father-in-law Anwar Alam, mother-in-law Hina Parveen and brother-in-law Rashid Alam started harassing Nazia for dowry,” they said.
Police sources said May 15 this year Nazia’s in-laws assaulted her while demanding Rs six lakh cash and a four-wheeler and Saifi uttered Talaq three times and divorced her. “Nazia moved an application in the court of the chief judicial magistrate to lodge an FIR against her husband and his family members,” they said.
Police sources said on the orders of the court an FIR has been lodged at Kotwali police station and in-charge of Purani Bazar police station Aftab Alam has been appointed as the inquiry officer. “Saifi is a teacher in a degree college and runs several coaching centers,” they said.
