Tripura Set To Welcome PM Modi Under A High-Security Cover
Agartala, Jan 4: Agartala has been enwrapped in a triple layer security blanket for the whirlwind visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Tuesday. Besides a hundred Special Protection Group (SPG) commandos, 300 specially trained Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel have been deployed along with the state police in and around Swami Vivekananda Stadium, MBB airport and the entire stretch of the VIP road which is on the route of the Prime Minister’s convoy.
“The entire area has been brought under security sanitization, both sides of the road between the airport and the stadium have been fenced and movement of civilians and vehicles have been restricted well ahead of the PM’s arrival scheduled at 1:35 PM. Special surveillance across
the city, markets and crowded places have been stepped up with plain clothes police vigil to avert any awkward situation,” said a top police official here.
To pre-empt any embarrassing situation during the visit, the police have seized a large number of black balloons from the market. Security surveillance at all the entry points of the city has been tightened. The BSF has been asked to stretch security along the Indo-Bangladesh border along the city, officials added.
According to reports, despite having been administered a double dose of vaccine against Covid-19, as per the instruction of the the PMO all the ministers including the Chief Minister, top-level bureaucrats, policemen, announcers, receptionists at the stage and the special
invitees of the program have undergone RT-PCR tests on Monday. All of them tested negative.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to inspect the newly built terminal at MBB airport for 15 minutes on his arrival here. Then he would be driven to the stadium at 2:10 PM. The deputy chief minister of the state Jishnu Dev Varma will welcome him followed by speeches from Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Chief Minister Biplab
Kumar Deb. Finally, Modi would inaugurate the airport terminal and launch Mission 100 and Mukhyamantri Gram Samridhi Yojana and address the gathering.
On the way back to Delhi, Prime Minister would interact with the Chief Justice and judges of the high court of Tripura over tea along with Chief Minister at the airport lounge for 15 minutes. However, the administration has also provisioned vegetable lunch for the Prime Minister in the airport besides, his preferred tea and snacks. Modi is
scheduled to leave for Delhi at 4:10 PM, officials added.
