Chennai, Feb 2: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and ruling DMK President M K Stalin today reached out to top national party leaders, including AICC President Sonia Gandhi, present and former CMs of various states, appealing to them to join the All India Federation for Social Justice announced by him on the Republic Day.
In a letter to the leaders, he said he announced the historic launch of All India Federation for Social Justice in order to bring to a common platform all leaders, members of civil society and like-minded individuals and organisations to strive towards achieving the principles of federalism and social justice at national level. Social Justice as an ideology is simple – ‘everything for everyone’. It is the belief that everyone deserves equal economic, political and social rights and opportunities.
“Only by ensuring this equality of opportunity can we build the egalitarian society visualised by the framers of our Constitution”, he said. In each State, the oppressed classes are yearning to have the doors of opportunity opened to them, he said, adding, “the Federation will be a platform for us to create a road map to take forward the battle for social justice in India and identify the areas in which we can do more, and bring about a common minimum programme to be uniformly adopted by all States.” Mr Stalin earnestly appealed to the leaders to nominate appropriate individual(s) from their party as representative(s) to this All India Federation for Social Justice.
“Only together can we bring real and meaningful social justice to the oppressed. At this crucial juncture when repressive forces are challenging the progress made in social justice front over decades, it is vital that all the progressive forces join hands to protect the interests of the oppressed”, he said and added that he was looking forward to welcoming them as a partner in this initiative.
