Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh), Feb 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of limiting the aspirations of the people seeking development and making them yearn even for small needs.
Addressing an election rally here, Modi said: “They made you yearn even for small needs. In the one and a half decade before 2017, they enjoyed power one after the other but limited the development to castes and creed. They discriminated in every facility.” He said the BJP’s “double engine government” was encouraging people to dream big. “Purvanchal Expressway is one such effort. It will give impetus to employment, trade and business in this entire area,” he said.
Modi said the Uttar Pradesh elections were important for the country. “Development of the people of Uttar Pradesh gives impetus to the development of the country,” he said. “We are concerned about the poor and are working to reduce the difficulties in their lives. Therefore, the poor are standing firmly with the BJP. That’s why the SP and BSP are furious and are trying to mislead the people.”
“Whether it’s a toilet at home or in school, gas connection, electricity and water connection or financial help during pregnancy, we did all the work with full dedication. Mothers, sisters and daughters of Dalits, backward and Muslim communities benefitted most from our schemes,” the Prime Minister said.
“It is our government which freed Muslim sisters from the vicious cycle of triple talaq. It has always been the priority of the double engine government that the security and dignity of our daughters goes up. “We have not only increased the participation of daughters in the police, but we also are ensuring their participation in paramilitary forces like CRPF and BSF and in the Army.” He said the government worked to sort out the problems of sugarcane farmers. “During SP and BSP regimes, when the price of sugar dropped, they closed the sugar mills. We are working on a permanent solution to the problems of cane farmers.”
