Six Nepali Citizens Brought Back By India From Ukraine
Kathmandu/New Delhi, March 12: Six Nepalis have been evacuated by India so far from war-hit Ukraine. Four Nepalis were brought back from Ukraine on Saturday, while two had been evacuated earlier by India, the Kathmandu Post said. Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday thanked Indian PM Narendra Modi on Saturday for assisting Nepalis. “Thank you Prime Minister @narendramodi and the Government of India for the assistance in repatriating Nepali nationals through the #OperationGanga,” Deuba wrote on Twitter. According to Nepal’s Ambassador to Germany, Ram Kaji Khadka who is also accredited to look after Ukraine, evacuation of Nepali nationals from Ukraine is almost over. Khadka said a total 580 Nepali nationals have come out from Ukraine since Russia invaded Ukraine. “But no one has asked for their repatriation,” added Khadka. “So far information that we have is 466 Nepalis have reached Poland, 78 Slovakia, 88 Romania and eight have reached Hungary.” According to Khadka, very few have expressed their desire to return to Nepal and only six have left for Nepal. “The remaining Nepalis are currently living in various European countries and some of them have reached Portugal,” said Khadka. “Out of 38 from Nepal who are now citizens of Ukraine, eight have left the country.” UNI
