SC Refuses To Postpone NEET-PG Exam
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a petition seeking direction postponement of the NEET-PG examination for the 2022-23 academic session scheduled for May 21.
“We are not inclined to interfere in the petition. We reject the petition,” a Bench headed by Justice Dr D Y Chandrachud said. The petitioner moved the court seeking appropriate direction or an order for postponement of the NEET-PG examination for 2022-23. “Our country is coming out of pandemic and the need is to streamline medical academic session. The delay in academic years, especially relating to patient care, would have cascading effects.
It is a policy decision to hold examinations on May 21 in which this court would not interfere,” the court said. The Supreme Court said that since the NEET-PG examinations were already delayed, a further delay would have serious consequences on patient care in hospitals, where at present only two batches of resident doctors are available instead of three batches available under normal circumstances.
