Punjab: Rahul Gandhi, Cong Candidates Pay Obeisance At Golden Temple
Amritsar, Jan 27: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, along with party candidates, paid obeisance at the Golden Temple here on Thursday. Gandhi is visiting the poll-bound state for the first time after the election dates were announced on January 8 by the Election Commission.

The Congress leader offered prayers at the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple and also partook ‘langar’ (community kitchen), along with party candidates. Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu accompanied the former Congress president.
Rahul, in a tweet in Hindi, said he along with the Congress candidates, prayed for the future of Punjab at Harmandir Sahib. The Congress leader also visited the historic Jallianwala Bagh and is scheduled to visit Durgiana Temple and the Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal in this holy city. He is also scheduled to address the ‘Punjab Fateh’ virtual rally at Mithapur in Jalandhar.

Earlier in the morning, Channi, PCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and O P Soni, received Rahul at the Amritsar airport on his arrival. Congress has so far announced 109 candidates for the February 20 Assembly elections, while the names of candidates for the remaining eight seats are yet to be announced.
