Prime Minister Modi, A Man Who Nurtures A Passion To Connect With People Beyond Politics

By D N Singh

On this day, the 73rd Republic day, the Indian Prime Minister has wished the great and popular Australian cricketer Jonty Rhodes for the latter’s intimate cricketing and cultural leaning with India and its people.

Getting a few words of wishes on this occasion, it matters a lot for the cricketer and at the same time reflect the generosity of a Prime Minister who does not wear the mantle of position when doing that.

Regardless of the contrarian views aired by some, in the field of politics, but what appears to be a novel twist in political realm, is the personal connects.

While talking about personal connects, the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi occupies a special space. From the day one, he ascended to this top post, he has cultivated the culture of personal connect with people from various areas through the means available.

It pays in every field and such gestures not necessarily be construed as favours but rather should be read as broadness in Politics and corresponding.

Whether it is ‘Man Ki Baat’, where the PM beaches through all the mazes of barriers between the common man and the most powerful man in India, Modi has always made the connects look informal. A word from the PM always matters and which, ostensibly, helps to bolster the relationship.

Even at many occasions in the past, Modi has taken to the social media to bolster the psyche of sports persons and often directly.

It may be described as a political subterfuge for politics but, on the ground, when seen minutely and rationally, it is the recipient of such gestures gain more than the PM.

But it is difficult to fathom the moral boost that such a gesture from none other than a Prime Minister goes to the man or woman who receives it.

It may be a novel trend in the country but a good thing undoubtedly.

Being decent is not merely hankering for limelight but it is in the tenets of politics, that teaches that without a grassroot connect, politics can be interpreted as a tool for power.

I woke up to a personal greeting from the PM. “I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day”. West Indies Legendary Cricketer Chris Gayle.

And in this, politics has no room.
