Prez, VP, PM Condole Demise Of Cartoonist Narayan Debnath
New Delhi, Jan 18: President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed condolences over the demise of cartoonist Narayan Debnath.
In a tweet, the President wrote, “Sad to learn about the demise of Narayan Debnath, a noted cartoonist, who created immortal fictional characters that entertained children and adults alike. His passing is a big loss to the world of Bengali literature. Condolences to his family and admirers.”
Expressing grief on his demise, the VP said that Debnath will always be remembered for his creative illustrations.
“His timeless work will continue to inspire artists in the times to come. My condolences to his family & admirers,” Naidu tweeted.
Taking to twitter, the PM wrote, “Narayan Debnath Ji brightened several lives through his works, cartoons and illustrations. His works reflected his intellectual prowess. The characters he created will remain eternally popular. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda also took to twitter to condole his death and wrote, “Saddened by the demise of noted Indian comic artist, writer and illustrator, Padma Shri Narayan Debnath Ji. The characters created by him will stay alive in the memories for decades. Condolences to his family and admirers in this sad time. Om Shanti.”
The Padma Shri awardee passed away at a private hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal on Tuesday following old age complications. He was 96.
