Lucknow, Jan 11: Uttar Pradesh Labour and Employment minister Swami Prasad Maurya, who resigned from the Yogi Adityanath cabinet on Tuesday, issued clarification minutes after submitting his resignation he has not yet resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Maurya, who had quit Bahujan Samaj Party before 2017, to join BJP before it came to power with a historic mandate, also said his family members (son and daughter) will continue to remain in the party they like.
“Though I have met Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav but I will take a call to join any party after discussing with my supporters and well wishers,” he told media here.
He clarified that his daughter Sanghamitra Maurya, who is BJP MP from Badaun will continue her responsibility for her people in her parliamentary constituency. “My son and other family members too are free to take any independent decision,” he said.
Maurya also said that he is still a member of the BJP and will decide to part ways or remain, after discussing with his supporters in a day or two. He said that due to several reasons he was forced to resign and has sent his resignation letter to the Raj Bhawan.
