‘Lataji Amar Rahe’, India’s Nightingale Consigned To Flames… Remains Immortal “Meri Aawaz He….”

Mumbai, Feb 6: India’s most loved singer Lata Mangeshkar, who had once moved Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to tears, leaves behind a teary-eyed nation of admirers who grew up listening to her immutable voice give wings to the words of poets and the screen careers of legions of heroines.

Popularly known as the nation’s Melody Queen, who also composed music for Marathi films and was a producer as well, and had the distinction of being conferred with the highest civilian honours of India and France, passed away on Sunday morning at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where she had been admitted because of Covid-related complications on January 8.

The news of Mangeshkar’s sad demise has deeply saddened and shocked the entire Nation. Politics, film fraternity, music industry, Poets, Artists beyond boundaries and Sports fraternity took to their social media handles to extend condolences.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders, including several opposition leaders, have expressed their condolences on the demise of “Nightingale and Bharat Ratna of Indian Cinema”. The Union Government has announced a two-day national mourning with the national fly at half-mast as part of the tribute to Lata Mangeshkar.

Condolences pour in from the Chief of all Indian States and UTs. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed deep sorrow over the death of the legendary playback singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao expresses sorrow over the sad demise of Lata Mangeshkarji. Chief Minister N Rangaswamy condoled the death of legendary singer and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar and revered her as “queen of Music” in the country.Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and other political leaders of the state mourned the demise of Nightangle of Indi.

Goa Governor Sreedharan Pillai expressed deep sorrow over the passing away of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar in Mumbai on Sunday. Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit expressed grief over the demise of the iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar. West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday expressed anguish at the passing away of melody queen Lata Mangeshkar. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed profound grief over the passing away of legendary singer.

Prez, PM, Speaker of Bangla Desh mourns the death of Lata Mangeshkar. And reiterated the historic fund raising efforts of this Legendary Singer during The War Of Liberation of Bangladesh in the year 1971.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Opposition leader VD Satheesan also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of legendary singer. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur condoled the demise of legendary singer and Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Mangeshkar.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today mourned the Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has expressed his grief at the demise of ‘Gaana Saraswathi’ Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar mourned the demise of Bharat Ratna singer Lata Mangeshkar and said her as the jewel of Maharashtra and her magical voice will always be remembered.”

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rani Rampal and various other sporting heroes expressed their condolences on the demise of legendary singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. Indian track athlete sprinter Hima Das expressed her sincere condolences and prayers.Former cricketer VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag wrote in tweeter their heartfelt Condolences to her family and fans.

Cricket fraternity from Pakistan also condoled the death of the the legendary Singer. Taking to Twitter, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja said: “Lata Mangeshkar was the epitome of grace, humility and simplicity and therefore greatness.. a lesson for all. Kishore Kumar and now her death has left me music broken!”. Former Pakistan cricket team skipper Waqar Younis: “Deeply saddened by the news of Lata Mangeshkar Ji’s passing away. There will never be another ‘LATA’.” Pakistan skipper Babar Azam: “End of a golden era. Her magical voice and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions worldwide. An unparalleled icon!” so also former Pakistan women cricket team captain Sana Mir expressed her deep condolences.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday condoled the death of legendary singer and Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. “The BCCI joins the nation in mourning the loss of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar ji. An avid follower of the royal game and an ardent supporter of Team India, she helped create an awareness using music as a medium,” BCCI tweeted.

Doctor Pratit Samdani who was treating the Empress of Singing at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, shared the deepest and painful statement of her demise. It read as: “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of Lata Mangeshkar at 8:12 am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalization post-COVID-19”. Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 on January 8, i.e. 28 days. May her soul rest in Peace… The Nitingale of Indian Cinema and Music.
