Haryana R-Day Tableau To Have Life size Replica Of Olympian Neeraj Chopra

New Delhi, Jan 22 : Months after India achieved its highest medal tally in Olympics ever, a glimpse of India’s achievements in sports will be on display at Rajpath on Republic Day in the tableau from Haryana which will have a life-size replica of Olympian Neeraj Chopra.
Prepared on the theme of ‘Haryana – Number One in Sports’, the tableau will have Olympians and international level players from the state as a part of the tableau, a statement from Haryana government said.
The tableau of Haryana is divided in two parts, with the front part consisting of a horse and a conch. The horses pulling the chariot symbolizes ‘Vijay Rath’ from the mythology Mahabharat. The conch represents the Lord Krishna’s conch shell.
The second part of the tableau will have an arena built on the lines of the Olympic games, with two wrestlers giving demonstration of wrestling on the mat. On the rear part, 10 famous international level players from Haryana will be present.
On the posterior side of the tableau, a life-size replica of Olympian Neeraj Chopra in javelin throwing posture will be there. On both sides of Tableau, the activities of players from selected sports of Haryana like Boxing, Weight-lifting, Shooting, Discus-Throw and Hockey have been depicted in the high relief.
A government statement said that the state, with only 1.3 percent geographical area and 2.09 percent population of the country, has participated in many national and international sports competitions, including the prestigious Olympic Games and brought laurels to the country.
“Out of a total of seven medals won by India in Tokyo Olympics-2020, Haryana players won four medals, including the lone gold medal in individual category. As a token of honour, the Haryana Government honoured the players of the state who participated in the Tokyo Olympics with a cash prize of Rs 25.40 crore. Similarly, the players of Haryana, who brought laurels to the country in Tokyo Paralympics 2020, were also honoured with cash prizes of Rs 28.15 crore,” the statement said.
Besides Tokyo Olympics and Tokyo Paralympics -2020, the players of Haryana won four medals out of a total of six medals won by India in Olympic- 2012 and one medal out of India’s two medals in Olympic- 2016.
