Gyanvapi: Court Rejects Plea Of Hindu Seer For Daily Worship
Varanasi, June 8: The District Court on Wednesday rejected the application of Head of Sri Vidya Mutt Swami Avimukteshwaranand seeking daily worship of Shivling-like structure at the Gyanvapi mosque complex.
District Government Counsel (DGC) (Civil) Mahendra Prasad Pandey said that the plea was rejected by District Judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesha, who said that if there was an urgency for the plaintiff, he should have approached the court the very next day after the Shivling-like structure in the wazookhana was sealed.
The District Judge rejected the application of plaintiff citing it is not a matter for an urgent hearing and the vacation of the court is going on as well.
It may be noted that Avimukteshwaranand moved the application in the court on June 4 and claimed that the Shivling-like structure found in wazookhana at the Gyanvapi mosque complex belonged to Lord Adi Visheshwara and had sought permission for daily worship there.
Earlier in the day Avimukteshwaranand called off after four days on Wednesday his indefinite fast over not being allowed to pray at the Shivling-like structure discovered at the Gyanvapi mosque’s wazookhana.
His followers said Avimukteshwaranand broke his fast after 108 hours. He began fasting immediately after being stopped from visiting the Gyanvapi mosque on June 4.
The seer’s guru Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati directed him to end his fast and Swami Avimukteshwaranand said that he will follow the instructions of his guru.
Avimukteshwaranand has lost around 5 kg weight during fasting, his followers said. Avimukteshwaranand said now he will launch a nationwide campaign for permission for worshipping Lord Adi Visheshwara located in the Gyanvapi mosque complex.
The head of the Sri Vidya Mutt sat on the indefinite fast after being stopped from going to Gyanvapi mosque complex by police in front of his Vidya Mutt on June 4. He has been under house restriction inside the monastery ever since.
