Governments Will Not Do Everything: PM

New Delhi, March 27 : Pressing for the need for a collective effort to achieve the objectives of nation building, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that “India’s notion has never been that governments will do everything.” Addressing the Ahimsa Yatra Sampannata Samaroh Karyakram on Sunday, the Prime Minister congratulated Terapanth Acharya Mahashramanji and all his disciples on completion of the historic 18,000 km Yatra in seven years on Sunday. “This has never been the notion in India that governments will do everything, those in power will do everything. This has never been India’s nature. In our country, the political authority, the spiritual authority and the social authority all have played an equal role. In our country, our duty has been our religion,” he said. The Prime Minister said that Acharya Mahashramanji has propagated the idea of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam through the yatra. He said that Acharya Mahashramanji worked for moral values in the society. He expressed satisfaction that lakhs of people joined Acharyaji’s mission to rid the society of the menace of drugs and other such vices. “In spiritual sphere, we can do self realisation only when we are free from such vices. When we rise above the self, only then we realise our duties for the larger good,” he said. The Prime Minister also remembered Acharya Tulsi. “Acharya Tulsi said, I am human first, then I am a religious person. Then I am a Jain sage doing sadhana. After that I am the Acharya of Terapanth,” the PM said. Acharya Mahashraman is the eleventh Acharya or the supreme head of Jain Shwetambara Terapanth sect. He started the Ahimsa Yatra from Red Fort in Delhi on November 9, 2014 which concluded on Sunday.
