New Delhi, Feb 28 :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the first consignment of relief supplies to Ukraine would be despatched on Tuesday, to deal with the humanitarian situation on Ukraine’s borders. Modi said this, while chairing his second high-level meeting on Monday, reviewing the ongoing efforts under Operation Ganga, to bring back the Indians stranded in the war-torn country of Ukraine.

The Prime Minister said the entire government machinery was working round-the-clock to ensure that all Indian nationals there were safe and secure. He pointed that the visit of four senior ministers as his Special Envoys to various nations will energise the evacuation efforts.

It was reflective of the priority the Government attached to this matter, he added. Guided by India’s motto of the world being one family, the Prime Minister also stated that India will help people from neighbouring countries and developing countries, who were stranded in Ukraine and may seek assistance. Earlier during the day, chairing his first high-level meeting on Operation Ganga, Modi decided to send four key Ministers of the government to neighbouring countries of Ukraine, in order to coordinate the evacuation mission and help students stranded, amid the rising hostilities between Russia and Ukraine.

The Ministers, who would be going, include Minister for Housing and Development Hardeep Puri, Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Law & Justice Kiren Rijiju, and former Army Chief and MoS for Road, Transport and Highways General VK Singh. The meeting discussed India’s evacuation mission from Ukraine in detail. Modi on Sunday had said that ensuring the safety of Indian students stranded in Ukraine and their evacuation is the government’s top priority. He also chaired a high-level meeting on late Sunday evening, which lasted for over two hours.
