Dr. Sun, The Unchallenged Physio We Need To Revisit Now
By D N Singh
It was just not a tweet from the business tycoon Anand Mahindra, but a great reminder from someone that, it is time we all have to go to the basics. If life has to be what it was centuries back, nourished by nature under the sun.

When man was not running twice a week to a psychiatric or yearly calendar did not have the red-circled planners to remind people to rush to the physicians. Today in focus is the immense health benefit that the Sun light showers on us and on our psyche.
Sadly, gone are the days, to a great extent, when our ‘nanis’ chase us for a oil massage, making us bask for sometime in the Sun light before bath.
And then the lightness of being after a bath, is still fresh in many memories. A kind of silent therapy that can be never dreampt of in the modern living enclosures, saturated by artificial ingredients.
Best Disinfectant On Earth
It is said that, Sun light is the best disinfectant on earth. It has been proved umpteen times but let us jug our memories back where we were, miles and miles away from the claustrophobic air blown in by the Air-conditioners.
Sun light helps boost serotonin, a kind of chemical in the brain. And essentially so by inducing energy through Vitamin D directly. Which makes one calm, positive and of course, focused.
Even scientifically, Sun shine has a lot of benefits for our bodies and those are many.
Eases Sleep
Your body creates a hormone called melatonin that is critical to helping you sleep. Because your body starts producing it when it’s dark, you usually start to feel sleepy two hours after the sun sets, which is one of the reasons our bodies naturally stay up later in the summer.
Research indicates that an hour of natural light in the morning will help you sleep better. Sunshine regulates your circadian rhythm by telling your body when to increase and decrease your melatonin levels.
Highly De-stressing
We cannot think that Sun light plays a role in reducing stress. Yes, it does.
It lowers stress, research shows, Sun light reactively lowers stress level, activies under the sun light leads to extra exercise and lighten the body and mind.
One of the easiest ways to get Vitamin D which the body produces in contact with the Sun light, at least 15 to 20 minutes a day which goes a good way to strenthen bone structure. And so does Sun light to maintain calcium highly essential for bones.
All these and Sun light intake helps boost our immune system, the highly need of the hour.
