Feb 6: Queen of melody Lata Mangeshkar left for heavenly abode today morning. She passed away at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure after battling Covid and pneumonia for a month.
In her remarkable career of about seven decades (3 generations of Indian Cinema/Music Industry), she lent her voice for over a thousand songs, across 36 languages. For this unparalleled musical journey she was honoured with prestigious Bharat Ratna and Dadasaheb Phalke
With her sad demise, people around the world are remembering her with the legacy of music she has left behind. Her songs, her melody will remain with us for thousands of years to come.
Lata Mangeshkar recorded her last song ‘Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki’ as a tribute to the Indian Army and nation. It was composed by Mayuresh Pai and was released on 30 March 2019.

The entire nation is mourning Lata Mangeshkar’s death. The divine soul’s last rites will be conducted at Shivaji Park at 6.30 pm today with full State honours.
