A Political Twister That Powers Political Turns When BJP Readies For The Podium Finish In Maharashtra
By D N Singh
It has become like an one-day in cricket as the politics in Maharshtra undergoes several twists and turns.
When the chief minister Uddhav Thackrey’s emotional appeal to the rebels seems to have failed, it has become clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party is very likely to form the government in Maharashtra with the support of the rebels led by Eknath Shinde.
It deserves a repeat here that, Eknath will be once again the same and it remains to be seen what shall be the political strategy of the BJP and there on, the length of the rope to be given.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said that rebel leader Eknath Shinde will support the BJP to form government in the state.
That is yet another twist being given obviously not without a nod of the BJP, that Athawale belongs to as an alliance member and one of the most straight talkers.
The total strength of the rebel MLAs is now at 44, including independents and that constitutes a crucial balancer to tilt the balance in favour of the anti-MVA constellation.
Yet another twister is the recent stand of the Sena which has also dropped a hint that, the Sena may walk out of the MVA alliance if political exigencies postulate so.
Although such a statement from the Shiv Sena sounds a bit of a mind boggler but one cannot loose sight of the message in between the line.
Will Uddhav aspire for a dissolution of theAssembly and demand fresh polls which may swing some sympathy wave in his favour.
Given the emotional stance Uddhav who volunteered to step down if MLAs want and vacating the CM official residence in a huff before the preening media cameras, he may have a point.
But the matter would again rest on the views of the MVA patriarch Sharad Pawar who on Thursday  slammed the BJP in Maharashtra and Assam for helping the rebel MLAs and downplayed the Sena’s hint of ‘considering to quit MVA if rebels return’.
Sharad Pawar has so far not intervened in that issue of Sena walking out or dissolution of the Assembly.
As the political deadlock in Maharashtra amid a rebellion within the Sena entered its fourth day on Friday, 24 June, rebel leader Eknath Shinde has left the hotel in Assam to go to Mumbai.
Fairly recently, Shinde has refreshed his claim of the support of about 5o MLAs and those all of are from the Sena.
It has become a political twister forcing developments to take new turns every passing hour.
