5G PIL Case: Juhi To Compensate By Social Work
New Delhi, Jan 25: The Delhi High Court has proposed to reduce the fine imposed on Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla in 5G case from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 2 lakh but asked her to participate in social work.
The actor had filed a public interest litigation in the Delhi High Court over 5G telecom technology being harmful to the environment. The court called the petition as a medium of publicity and slammed her for wasting the court’s time. It had ordered Juhi to deposit Rs 20 lakh as damages for it. The actress later filed an appeal against this decision of the High Court.
On Tuesday, a bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Jasmeet hinted at reducing the amount of damages to Rs 2 lakh, saying the actress’s popularity can be used for “goodness of society”. As compensation, they said, the actor would have be involved in public work such as participating in the programme of Delhi State Legal Services Authority.
