Stern Action To Be Taken Against Anyone Indulging In Violence: Mamata
Kolkata, June 11: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday once again warned the trouble-makers in parts of Howrah district, saying stern action will be taken against anyone indulging in violence, even as the district administration clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr Pc and suspended internet services in the trouble-torn areas.
Banerjee on Thursday warned against the trouble-makers, who had blocked the highways and disrupted vehicular traffic and prevented the rail services.
The protesters, who were opposing the remarks of a BJP leader in New Delhi, even disrupted the road and railway services on Friday and clashed with the policemen, in which many uniform personnel sustained injuries.
” As I have said before, violent incidents have been taking place in Howrah for two days now. There are some political parties behind this who want to cause riots, ” said Banerjee on her twitter post.
” But these things will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against all of them indulged in violence, ” she said on Saturday.
She also asked “Why should the common people suffer because of BJP’s sins? ”
The Howrah district administration has clamped section 144 Cr PC with suspension of internet services in parts of the district apprehending trouble following protest demonstrations, which turned violent on Friday.
Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari has alleged that the mob was on rampage and was targeting the BJP offices.
He said the state administration should call the central forces to stop the vandalism in the name of protests.
” Party offices & functionaries, as instigated by CM. In the name of protest specific places, people & their properties are being attacked. The TMC sponsored goons are vandalising and setting shops & homes on fire as well, ” Adhikari tweeted on Friday.
“Nero fiddled while Rome burned” & @MamataOfficial begs to hooligans when Bengal burns. WB Police Minister please wake up from your slumber. Vandalism is going on at Beldanga Police Station under Murshidabad Police district. If you are unable to control seek Central assistance, ” added Adhikari.
‘ I condemn the manner in which @BJP4Bengal
President; MP Sri @DrSukantaBJP & Party Secretary; eminent Lawyer Smt @impriyankabjp have been obstructed by WB Administration.
It’s proof that they’re hiding the truth. I am on the way to Balarampur; Purulia, to address a public meeting, ‘ said Adhikari.
‘I would be visiting the charred BJP Howrah Rural Party Office tomorrow. I assure our Karyakartas that, our Party Office is like a Temple to us, it would be rebuilt from the ashes. Look at history, foreign invaders razed our Temples to ground but today the saffron flags wave atop, ‘ he added.
