Maha Govt To Take Strict Action Against Those Violating Law: MPCC
Pune, May 3: As MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s deadline on removal of loudspeakers from Mosques came to an end on Tuesday, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee issued a warning that if anyone tried to take the law into their hands, the state government and administration would take appropriate action.
Speaking on the issue, MPCC president Nana Patole said, “Maharashtra is a progressive state and it is the responsibility of the state government to protect the freedom of religion that has been given to us by the Constitution. The administration will follow the directions given by the Supreme Court regarding the use of loudspeakers.
“If anyone thinks of himself as above the law, it will not work in Maharashtra and this is not only limited to Raj Thackeray. The MVA government will not tolerate any attempt to destabilise the state,” he asserted and said if Raj Thackeray violated the law, police will take action against him.
Leaders of Congress have discussed these issues with the Chief Minister and Home Minister of the state, the MPCC chief said and pointed out that his party has demanded the government to take appropriate precautions to prevent communal clashes in the state. Ever since the Maha Vikas Aghadi government came to power in the state, BJP has been trying to destablise it, he noted.
“Some people are trying to create communal clashes, but the administration is vigilant and both the government and the administration will thwart any attempt to spread unrest in the state,” Patole said and added that it was wrong to criticise anyone’s religion.
