Won’t Allow Fences Along Afghan-Pak Border: Taliban
Kabul, Jan 6: Taliban will not allow building of fences in any form on Afghan-Pakistan border, said Taliban-appointed leader in Afghanistan.
“We will not allow the fencing anytime, in any form. Whatever they (Pakistan) did before, they did, but we will not allow it anymore. There will be no fencing anymore,” Mawllawi Sanaullah Sangin, commander of the border forces for the eastern zone, was quoted as saying by TOLOnews on Wednesday.
The remarks came in reaction to Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s remarks on Durand Line.
The Taliban is building over 30 outposts to bar the Pakistani military’s movement near the border.
“We have fenced the border (with Afghanistan), and it will continue,” Pakistan’s FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi had said.
“Taliban believes in addressing problems through understanding, talks and good neighborliness,” said Abdul Qahar Balkhi, Taliban-appointed spokesman for the Afghanistan Foreign Ministry.
