Will Welcome Rashmi Thackeray As CM, Says BJP With Sarcastic Footnote
Pune, Jan 5: Maharashtra BJP Vice President Chitra Wagh on Wednesday said that her party will welcome Rashmi Thackeray as the state’s first woman CM in case the latter’s husband Uddhav hands over his post to his wife.
She made the statement while commenting on the speculation that Ms Rashmi may take over as CM from her husband, given Mr Thackeray’s unsound health owing to which he was also absent from the assembly session.
Giving a sarcastic twist to her reaction, Ms Wagh further said that there is no need for any experience to become minister or chief minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
The BJP leader was in this city to distribute free school uniforms to female students of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay School.
Ms Wagh lauded the Creating Foundation which had organised the function. “There could be no better start for the year than participating in this noble initiative,” she remarked.
While interacting with the pupils, she appealed to the girls to be confident and not to drop out of school under any circumstances.
She also recounted how the state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil distributed school dresses to 20,000 female students in Pune.
Mr Patil relentlessly helped many ailing persons during COVID peak and even distributed sewing machines to self-help groups, she underlined.
Maharashtra BJP spokesman Ali Daruwala, Pune spokesman Sandeep Khardekar, and Corporators Madhuri Sahastrabuddhe and Vrishali Chaudhary were present among other dignitaries.
