WHO Heaps Praises On India For Taking AYUSH To World
New Delhi, April 20 : The Government of India was hailed by foreign dignitaries for promoting traditional medicines on a global scale during the inaugural event of the Global Ayush Investment & Innovation Summit started in Gandhinagar on Wednesday. The World Health Organisation’s Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus who is on a visit to India to set up the Centre for Traditional Medicine praised India’s role in promoting the alternative medicine science globally. “The AYUSH sector of India will go to whole world and the whole world will come to India to seek the science of traditional medicine,” he said. The promising role and position of India encouraged WHO to set up the traditional medicine centre in the country. “It’s heartening to see the AYUSH ministry efforts to collate data in fostering the traditional medicine policies. The Centre for Traditional Medicine in Gujarat will focus on evidence, data and sustainability to support and optimise national policies for holistic health,” the WHO chief added. The Mauritius PM Pravind Jagnauth said similar to India, Mauritius also believes in the traditional medicine as a complementary to the modern medicine. He also said India can play a leader in propagating the science of traditional medicine in the world through partnerships and collaboration. “Mauritius is also progressing in the research and innovation in AYUSH. We have signed several MoUs with India and looking forward to have more collaboration with the country,” he stated.
