Washington’s Calls For Sanctions Are Politically Destructive
Moscow, Jan 26: The US’ calls for sanctions against Russian leadership, including President Vladimir Putin, are politically destructive but not painful, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden did not rule out the imposition of sanctions personally against Putin in the event of Russia’s alleged invasion of Ukraine. “This is not painful, this is politically destructive,” Peskov told reporters. Commenting on calls for freezing Putin’s assets, the official said that the Russian leader keeps money in the Rossiya Bank, which is already under sanctions.
