US’ NATO Eastward Expansion Led Ukraine Crisis: China

Beijing, March 8: The United States’ policy on the expansion of NATO eastward has played a major role in the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said on Tuesday.

“The United States threw a huge log into the fire of the Ukrainian crisis, pursuing its policy of expanding NATO to the east,” Zhao told a briefing.

China has always believed that the security of one country cannot be ensured at the expense of the security of other countries, and regional security cannot be ensured by expanding military blocs, the diplomat added.
