Lucknow, Jan 27 : Notification for the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly polls in the Awadh region including Lucknow was issued here on Thursday. A total of 59 seats will go to polls on February 23 in the fourth phase. With this notification, the process of filing nomination papers for 59 assembly seats of 9 districts of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Banda and Fatehpur has started. Of the 59 assembly seats going to polls in the fourth phase, 16 seats are reserved for scheduled castes.
The Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Ajay Kumar Shukla said here on Thursday that the notification for the fourth phase polls was issued at 1100 hours. He said that there are a total of 2,12,90,564 voters in the fourth phase including 1,14,03,306 male voters, 98,86,286 female voters and 972 belonging to the third gender. According to the election schedule, the last date for filing of nominations for the fourth phase is February 3. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on February 4 and the last date for withdrawal is February 7. The fourth phase of polling will be held on February 23 and counting will take place on March 10.
