Ukrainian Defense Minister Questions Efficiency Of NATO’s Security System
Kyiv, March 17: Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov on Thursday raised doubts about the effectiveness of NATO’s security system after and Ukrainian drone flew over several countries before crashing in Croatia last week. “About our drone that fell in Croatia.
This is a Soviet-made drone that we have in our army. So, it covered several member states before it fell in Croatia. Well, I am questioning the security system of NATO. The drone was flying over several countries, didn’t you see it? Haven’t you destroyed it?” Reznikov told European Parliament, adding that the questions are rhetorical.
Ukraine is in daily communication with Croatian Defense Ministry, Reznikov noted. “We are investigating this incident. We are trying to use radars, technical indicators, because I can assure you, we haven’t launched such a drone towards Croatia. Croatia is our friend, we would never do that,” Reznikov added.
The Soviet-made drone flew from Ukraine last week before running out of fuel and crashing on March 11 in the Croatian capital. No one was hurt. The Croatian defense minister said that traces of explosives and aerial bomb parts were found at the site, indicating it was not a spy aircraft. Croatia criticized the alliance for letting a six-tonne armed aircraft from a conflict zone traverse Romanian and Hungarian airspace undetected.
