Taliban Dissolves Human Rights Commission
Islamabad, May 17: The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has dissolved the Human Rights Commission among the five major departments of the previous civilian government.
Besides Human Rights Commission, High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), last headed by former Afghan president Abdullah Abdullah, was dissolved.
The other departments removed by the regime include National Security Council, Independent Commission for Overseeing the Implementation of the Constitution (ICOIC), and the General Secretariats of the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) and Mishrano Jirga (Upper House), according to Khaama News Agency.
According to reports, the country could have a budget deficit of 44 billion Afghanis in this fiscal year and decision on dissolving the key departments may have come in this regard. Since the takeover of Kabul, the Taliban had assured to the world that their rules would be moderate but till now several diktats have been issued for women and girls.
