Rehman Chisti, Liz Truss Joins UK PM Race
London, July 11: UK MP Rehman Chisti and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss have announced their bid to join the race to become the next Prime Minister along with nine others, including former Chancellor Rishi Sunak.
In a tweet, Chisti said:
I’m standing to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and your Prime Minister. For me it’s about aspirational conservatism, fresh ideas, fresh team for a fresh start taking our great country forward. (Full video on my Facebook page). pic.twitter.com/0BBOkqmKgV

Earlier, Truss said in an article in The Telegraph that she was also joining the race to become the next PM.
She said, “I am putting myself forward because I can lead, deliver and make the tough decisions. I have a clear vision of where we need to be, and the experience and resolve to get us there.
“I will fight the election as a Conservative and govern as a Conservative.”
The Foreign Secretary emphasised that she would start reducing taxes from day one if elected as the PM.
The candidates in the fray as of Monday morning were: Chisti, Truss, Sajid Javid, Rishi Sunak, Suella Braverman, Grant Shapps, Tom Tugendhat, Nadhim Zahawi, Penny Mordaunt, Jeremy Hunt and Kemi Badenoch.
