People Killed In Sacramento Church Shooting
Washington, March 1: A shooting at a church in Sacramento, the capital of the US state of California, resulted in five deaths, according to local authorities.
“Another senseless act of gun violence in America – this time in our backyard. In a church with kids inside. Absolutely devastating. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and their communities. We are working closely with local law enforcement,” California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Twitter.

The shooting occurred at The Church in Sacramento on Monday afternoon, Sacramento Metro Fire confirmed to CBS13. “Please be aware and on the look out. Local law enforcement are responding to a mass casualty shooting event in the county at a church on 2041 Wyda way. Please be alert while in the area as local law enforcement responds,” Sacramento City Council Member Eric Guerra said on Twitter on Monday.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said as cited by CBS that a total of five people were killed in the church: three teenagers were shot dead by their father, who then took his own life, and a fifth person was also killed. It remains unclear whether that fifth person was part of the family, according to Sgt. Rod Grassman, spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, who specified that all the three children killed were under the age of 15. “This is, as far as I can see, at this point a domestic-violence-related sort of incident,” Grassmann told reporters on Monday evening, as quoted by The New York Times. According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting was contained to inside the church.
