Karnataka: NIA files supplementary chargesheet in Spl court against suspected ISIS terrorist

Bengaluru : The Bengaluru wing of the NIA filed a supplementary chargesheet in a special court here on Friday against a suspected ISIS terrorist Shihabudeen for his alleged involvement in logistical supply of arms and ammunitions in Mumbai.

The accused has been charged under under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, section 25 (1)(a) of Arms Act 1959 and sections 18, 20, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, NIA said in a statement.

The case was registered at Suddaguntepalya police station here against Mehboob Pasha alias Abdullah and 16 others.

Accused Pasha alias Abdullah, a resident of Gurappanapalya, in association with Khaja Moideen alias Jalal accused in several cases registered in Tamil Nadu related to terrorism, and murder of Hindu leaders, had formed a terrorist gang by recruiting young Muslims in South India.

They had selected Bengaluru as their base and conducted several criminal conspiracy meetings in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu since April, 2019.

They had propagated the ideology of the proscribed terrorist organization, ISIS and conspired to collect arms and explosives for murdering police officers and majority community leaders.

NIA had re-registered the case on January 23, 2020 and took over the investigation into the matter.

The investigation has revealed that chargesheeted accused Shihabudeen was part of the larger conspiracy and as per the directions of Khaja Moideen alias Jalal had collected and handed over arms and ammunitions in Mumbai to other accused persons.

These arms were further used in the murder of SSI Wilson of Tamil Nadu Police.

Further investigation in this case is underway.
