Paris, Jan 2: Lionel Messi has tested positive for Covid-19, the French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain F.C confirmed on Sunday.
Messi is among the four players who tested positive for the virus. The other three are Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala.
“All four are currently in isolation and subject to the appropriate health protocol,” the club said in a statement.
PSG are due to play against Vannes on January 4 in the French Cup, followed by a clash with Lyon in Ligue 1 on January 10.
The club will also be without Neymar as the Brazilian continues his recovery from injury.
“Neymar JR will continue his treatment in Brazil until 9 January with members of the Paris Saint-Germain medical and performance staff. His return to training is still expected to be in about 3 weeks,” added PSG.
