Lata Mangeshkar’s Funeral Today In Mumbai

Mumbai, Feb 6: The last rites of ‘Melody Queen of India’ Lata Mangeshkar will be performed at Mumbai’s Shivaji park at 6:30 pm on Sunday, according to family sources.

Police has made all the security arrangements at Shivaji park as several people including politicians, Bollywood personalities and her fans are expected to attend the funeral of the revered singer.

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, 92, passed away on Sunday after battling with Covid-19 and multi-organ failure for 28 days at Breach Candy hospital. She was put on ventilator after her condition deteriorated on Saturday.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the news of her demise after visiting the hospital, where she was admitted. Gadkari was in the hospital at around 9 am and soon tweeted:

“Singing legend Lata Mangeshkar passes away.” With this the entire nation was plunged into a sense of loss as the “nightingale”, the “kokila of India” was gone forever.

Dr Pratit Samdani said: “She passed away at 8.12 am after multi-organ failure post Covid detection 28 days ago.”

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several leaders have expressed condolence over the demise of “nightingale of Indian cinema”.
