ECI To Issue Notification For First Phase Biennial Polls For 30 Legislative Council Seats in UP Tomorrow
Lucknow, Feb 3 : Election Commission of India (ECI) will issue notification for first phase of Biennial Election to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council tomorrow. ECI will hold 35 Local Authorities’ Constituencies for 36 seats in two phases on March 3 and 7. The present tenure of the members of these 36 seats of the council would be expiring on March 7 next. State chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Ajay Kumar Shukla said here on Thursday that all preparations for the biennial council polls have been completed. The gram panchayat members, local bodies members , MLA, MLC and MPs would vote in this council polls.
The notification for phase one of the biennial polls in 30 seats would be issued tomorrow, last date for filing of nominations on February 11, scrutiny of papers on February 14 and last date for withdrawal on February 16. The polling of first phase will be held on March 3.
The notification for the second phase polls in 6 seats would be issued on February 10, last date for filing of nominations on February 17 ,scrutiny of February 18 and last date for withdrawals on February 21. Counting of votes for both the phases will be taken up on March 12. Presently all the 36 seats have SP representatives. The seats where polling will be held in the first phase are Moradabad-Bijnor Local Authorities,Rampur-Bareill Local Authorities,Budaun Local Authorities, Pilibhit-Shahjahanpur Local Authorities, Hardoi Local Authorities,Kheri Local Authorities, Sitapur Local Authorities, Lucknow-Unnao Local Authorities, Rae-Bareli Local Authorities,Pratagarh Local Authorities,Sultanpur Local Authorities,Barabanki Local Authorities,Bahraich Local Authorities,Azamgarh-Mau Local Authorities,Ghazipur Local Authorities, Jaunpur Local Authorities, Varanasi Local Authorities,Mirzapur-Sonbhadra Local Authorities,Allahabad Local Authorities,Banda-Hamirpur Local Authorities,Jhansi-Jalaun-Lalitpur Local Authorities,Kanpur-Fatehpur Local Authorities,Etawah-Farrukhabad Local Authorities,Agra-Firozabad Local Authorities, Mathura-Etah-Mainpuri Local Authorities ( two seats),Aligarh Local Authorities,Bulandshahar Local Authorities,Meerut-Ghaziabad Local Authorities and Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur Local Authorities.
In the second phase polling would be held in Gonda Local Authorities,Faizabad Local Authorities, Basti-Siddharth Nagar Local Authorities, Gorakhpur-Maharajganj Local Authorities, Deoria Local Authorities and Ballia Local Authorities.
