Los Angeles, Mar 5 : In a post on social media, Britney Spears has expressed her interest in the mysterious death of actress Brittany Murphy in 2009. She shared a People Magazine cover dated Oct. 18, 2021, on Friday. The cover shows a large close-up of Murphy’s face with the title, “WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO BRITTANY MURPHY?” “I saw this online today …. is anybody else curious ??? She died at 32 … HMMMMMMMMMMM [emojis] … JUST SAYING !!!! Psss I know it was a while ago but come on …they are STILL INVESTIGATING !!!!” Spears captioned. For those who may wonder why the pop star has such curiosity over the actor’s death after all these years, it is because both Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy share a connection. Spears did not mention this in her post, but the Hollywood Hills house in whose main bathroom Murphy was found dead was sold to Murphy by Spears in 2003. Murphy bought the fully furnished house for $3.85 million. In February 2010, it was determined that Murphy’s death was the result of untreated pneumonia, combined with anemia and drug intoxication from prescription and over-the-counter medications, including painkillers and cold medicine. No illegal drugs were found in her system. Mysteriously, her husband Simon Monjack, (40), died just five months later from similar causes. On May 23, 2010, Murphy’s mother Sharon found her son-in-law unresponsive in their home. Monjack was pronounced dead after the LAFD (Los Angeles Fire Department) was called to the residence for a medical emergency, PEOPLE reported at the time. Like Murphy, a coroner later determined acute pneumonia and severe anemia as the causes of the screenwriter’s death. Spears had briefly lived in that place with her then boyfriend Justin Timberlake. The pop star had said back then that she moved out because she did not like the vibe of the place. In a strange turn, Monjack said that Murphy too had qualms of her own and considered the house “unlucky”. Since then, the deaths have been a subject of much debate by the public, friends and her father with many rumours having since then surfaced that the actress died of a drug overdose since she was so young and because the toxicology report listed “multiple drug intoxication.” However, Dr. Lisa Scheinin, who performed Murphy’s autopsy, never found any illegal drugs in Murphy’s system. She also ruled that the prescribed drugs found in Murphy’s system were not the main cause of death. Murphy’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, believed that Murphy had been poisoned. He hired a private lab to run tests on Murphy’s body. The lab found high amounts of 10 metals in Murphy’s system. However, a forensic pathologist explained that the metals were not found in Murphy’s bloodstream and concluded she hadn’t been poisoned. Furthermore, reports of her exposure to black mold also surfaced in the media, though the coroner confirmed that there was no black mold present in the household.
