Backdoor Diplomacy On With India: Mian Mansha, Pak Businessman

Islamabad, Feb 3 : Pakistan’s leading businessman Mian Muhammad Mansha has said that backchannels talks between Pakistan and India were going and it was hoped that they will bear good results in the near future, Dawn reported on Thursday. Mansha who is the chairman of the Nishat Group said this while addressing a gathering of businessmen at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry went on to add that “If things improve between the two neighbours, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could visit Pakistan in a month,”.
He went on to add that the two countries should resolve their disputes and restart trade to fight poverty in the entire region. “If the economy does not improve, the country may face disastrous consequences.
Pakistan should improve trade relations with India and take a regional approach to economic development. Europe fought two great wars, but ultimately settled for peace and regional development. There is no permanent enmity.” Trade between Pakistan and India has been suspended since August 2019 when New Delhi revoked Article 370 which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir. There have been reports of backchannel talks between the two economies apparently brokered by a Gulf state.
