Berhampur, Apr 5: A heart-wrenching accident, took away 4 lives with a blink of an eye. A man and his two daughters were killed while his minor grandson has incurred serious injuries as the motorcycle on which they were travelling was hit by a pickup van near Indhanpur under Gangapur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district, today.
Following the incident, the irate locals staged road blockade by burning tyres, demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. The driver of the pickup van had succed to flee the spot after the fateful accident.
The mishap took place when the victims were returning to the village from Gangapur on the two-wheeler after completion of some work. Deceased were identified as Jayaram Nayak and his two daughters of Munigadi village.Â
A speeding pickup van hit the motorcycle and ran over it, killing Jayaram on the spot. His two daughters and grandson were rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the Aska sub-divisional hospital, where doctors declared the two women dead.
The minor boy was shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here as his condition deteriorated.
