NCM Chairman Demands Action Against Attackers On Sikh Community In Pak
New Delhi, April 29: Taking cognizance of media reports over the attack on Sikh Community in Pakistan, the chairperson of National Commission for Minorities (NMC) expressed concerns and said Pakistan government must take appropriate steps to avoid such incidents in future.
“Since a prominent Sikh family is subjected to brutality, other Sikh members in Pakistan are feeling insecure Iqbal Singh Lalpura, has expressed his concern over this as the Sikhs living in India are also concerned about the welfare of their brothers living in Pakistan” said the NCM statement.
The commission said, “the local land mafia are behind the incident who are trying to encroach on a prime piece of land”. “Commission has taken cognizance of media reports regarding attack on few Sikh persons including Mastan Singh, Ex President of Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee”.
The Commission informed that the Ministry of Minority Affairs has requested External Affairs to take up the matter with Pakistan’s counterpart so that this kind of incident is not repeated in future.
The commission also demanded that appropriate steps must be taken to prevent and combat hate against Sikhs in Pakistan. According to the reports, last week three Sikhs were injured in a clash with the local land mafia at Nankana Sahib the birthday place of Guru Nanak Dev, in Pakistan.
The injured include Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) former president Mastan Singh, his son Dilawar Singh and one Palae Singh.
