Naveen assures crop loss assistance to farmers hit by recent flood
Bhubaneswar, Sep 1 : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said assistance for crop loss due to flood would be provided to the affected farmers very soon.
Speaking on the occasion of distribution of assistance under the KALIA scheme to farmers on Nuakhai, Patnaik said all farmers are in a state of stress due to the recent flood.
He said ‘’ I am always with you and I have directed officials to make the damage assessment and submit a report at the earliest.’’
Patnaik said Nuakhai is a festival of the earth. All of us get the blessings of Mother Earth due to the hard labour of farmers.
On this occasion, the assistance of Rs 869 crore was given to 41 lakh small and 85,000 landless farmers. A sum of Rs 2,000 was directly transferred to the account of each farmer.
The Chief Minister said the KALIA Yojana is the best scheme in the country which has created hope and confidence among the small farmers. It also helped a lot for the security of livelihood of landless farmers.
During May last over Rs 800 crore assistance was given to the farmers under the KALIA scheme on the occasion of Akhi Tritiya.
The Chief Minister hoped that the assistance would help a lot in furthering the agricultural activities of the farmers.
