Freedom Shrugged! Rajasthan tailor murdered for supporting expelled BJP leader Nupur Sharma
Udaipur, June 28 : A tailor in this Rajasthan city was killed on Tuesday for supporting suspended BJP Spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her Prophet Hazrat Muhammad remark.
Two assailants reached the tailor shop, attacked the victim and also shot the video of the crime.
The attackers were arrested by Rajasthan Police from Rajsamand area within a few hours of the incident.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to appeal for maintaining peace and harmony.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Kanhaiyalal, who ran a tailor shop in Dhan Mandi area of Udaipur.
One of the attackers slit his throat with a sharp weapon. There were seven people in the shop at the time of the incident. Ishwar Singh, an aide of Kanhaiya Lal, suffered serious injuries in the attack. He was admitted to MB Hospital.
Tension prevailed in the area following the incident. Agitated people closed the market. At some places, the protestors burnt tires to express their anger. After the incident, the administration stopped internet services in Udaipur.
According to reports, Kanhaiya Lal posted a tweet in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. He was allegedly killed for supporting her.
