Bhubaneswar, Jan 19 : Odisha reported 11,607 Covid19 positive cases in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day infections of this year taking the total cumulative tally in the state to 11,67,094.
This was the third occasion in the last week, the daily Covid19 load in the state has surpassed 11,000 mark.
Earlier, it had reported 11,177 and 11,086 Covid19 cases.
Health and Family Welfare Department sources said out of 11607 infections, 6728 were reported from the quarantine centres and 4879 as local contact cases.
Khordha district has the highest number of 4387 cases, registering 37.4 per cent of the total new cases followed by Sundargarh (1219), Cuttack (898), Sambalpur (390) and Balasore (305). These five districts accounted for 61.67 per cent of the new cases recorded in the past 24 hours.
Sources said all the 30 districts have reported covid cases of which six districts such as Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and Boudh have registered double-digit Covid19 positive cases.
At least six deaths were reported from five districts during the health audit pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8494.
The daily test positivity rate( TPR) further jumped to 16.7 per cent from 15.6 recorded on Tuesday while 25 of the total 30 districts have been declared as Red Zones with the TPR varying from above 7.5per cent to as high as 36 per cent.
Three districts such as Bhadrak, Dhekanal and Kandhamal have been categorized as Yellow zones with TPR registering between 5 per cent to 7.5 per cent.
Ganjam and Kendrapara districts have recorded TPR of less than 5 per cent and declared as Green Zones.
Sundargarh district continued to be at the top of the district tally with 36.1 per cent TPR followed by Khordha (31.7), Cuttack(18), Kalahandi ( 15.4) Bolangir (14.8) and Rayagada (14.6 per cent).
The active cases further soared to 84,770 from 80,914 recorded on Tuesday with Khordha district alone accounting for a maximum number of 29,745 cases followed by Sundargarh (10,554), Cuttack ( 5934), Sambalpur ( 3498) and Balasore(3227).
These five districts have contributed 62.47 per cent of the total active cases in the state and are declared as Red Zones. Eleven other districts have been declared as Yellow Zones while the rest 14 districts as Green Zones.
Official sources said as many as 7745 Covid19 patients were cured of the virus on Tuesday taking the total recoveries in the state to 10,73,777.
