Bhubaneswar, Nov 10 : The Special Crime Unit of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police on Friday arrested two notorious drug peddlers and seized over 1 kg of brown sugar worth more than Rs 1 crore and two motorcycles from their possession.
Police identified the accused as Niranjan Pattjoshi and Pradipta Kumar Sahu, of the Delang area in Puri district.
Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadarshi said, police seized 1.012 kilograms of brown sugar with an estimated market value of over Rs 1 crore.
Since the formation of the Special Crime Unit on May 10, 2023, it has so far seized 1.420 kilograms of brown sugar and about 230 kilograms of ganja.
