Congress To Hold Protests Against Price Rise

New Delhi, March 26: Congress on Saturday said the party will protest against continuing inflation by holding a ‘Mehngai Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, under which protests will be held across the country against price rise. Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said Congress President Sonia Gandhi took the decision in consultation with the General Secretaries and State In-Charges of the party, who met in the national capital today.

On March 31, Congress workers and people will protest outside their homes and public places with garlanded Gas Cylinders and beat of drums-bells-other instruments to draw attention of the deaf BJP Government against the insurmountable increase in prices of Gas-Petrol-Diesel. Between April 2-4, there will be district level ‘Mehngai Mukt Bharat Dharna and March’, and on April 7, there will be state level, ‘Mehngai Mukt Bharat dharna and march’ at state headquarters.

“People of India have been betrayed, duped and deceived by Modi Government. After keeping the prices of Petrol, Diesel, Gas Cylinder, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) & CNG unchanged for 137 days to secure the votes of people, last one week has been a nightmare for budget of every household,” Surjewala said. The statement came as Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 80 paise a litre today. This is the fourth time petrol and diesel prices have increased in five days. UNI
