Odisha scores 66% as high performer on road safety, CM, Patnaik calls for more caution and care on roads

Chief minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik laid emphasis to road safety saying that, road safety should be a high priority area for the government.

Speaking at the SAFE convention held at a local hotel, Patnaik said that his government has adopted a four-fold strategy to make the roads safer, by enforcement, education improvement in road engineering and emergency care.

On this occasion, the CM inaugurated the exhibition for the new safe technologies for automobiles.

Patnaik, however, highlighted the state’s performance in road safety initiatives adding that, Odisha has scored a 66 per cent and also categorized as ‘high performer’ in implementing the road safety measures as survey conducted by the Supreme Court of India Committee in road safety.

‘Our government has started a Reward Scheme for the people who help the accident victims’, the CM said, expressing his pleasure that, now more and more people are coming to help accident victims .

Focusing on road safety technologies, with the changing trends of mobility sector, new technologies are being introduced for better and safer driving experience. He, however, said that, increasing number of accident related deaths all across, is a cause for concern and which has to be controlled by all means.
