Worrying Signs: Marathwada Registers 2,523 Fresh Covid Cases

Aurangabad, Jan 17 : In a worrying sign of Covid-19 surge, three districts of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra recorded more than 500 cases resulting the entire eight districts recorded total 2.523 fresh cases during the past 24 hours, health authorities said on Monday.

Reports collected by UNI from the all district headquarters stated that of eight districts in the region, Aurangabad district worst affected recorded 658 cases, followed by Nanded had 643 cases, Latur district reported 543 cases, Osmanabad had 194 cases, Jalna had 185 cases, Beed had 125 cases, Parbhani had 101 cases and Hingoli had 74 cases, they added.

Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 41,327 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the state, taking the total number of infections to 72,11,810.

The state also registered 29 more deaths, taking the death toll to 1,41,808.

Meanwhile,40,386 patients recovered in the state, pushing the total number of recoveries to 68,00,900 the recovery rate currently stands at 94.3 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.96 per cent.

At present, there are 2,65,346 active cases across Maharashtra undergoing treatment at different Covid-19 centres and hospitals, the health authorities said.

While,8 fresh case of new variant Omicron were spotted in the state.

Hence the tally of Omicron remain up to 1738.

While 932 were patients were cured so far, they added.
