Jammu, Feb 5: Stressing on breaking the belief that women can only be a homemakers, Captain Sania of Indian Army feels that the parents should give wings to the dreams of their daughters which will allow them to live an independent life. Capt Sania hit the social media after her team of lady jawans, in a day de-launched 60-feet Bailey bridge in Arunachal Pradesh. Born in a remote village Barakh in tehsil Pouni of District Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir, Capt Sania is the first woman army officer from the village.
Engineer turned Army officer, Capt Sania, who has inherited ‘olive’ from her father and grandfather (retired Army personnel) speaking to UNI said, “I am a third generation into Army in my family.” “I always lived in an environment where I witnessed many rugged activities since childhood and this attracted me towards olive,” says the officer. After her schooling in Reasi Captain Sania did her Civil Engineering from Udaipur and then joined the OTA Chennai in 2018. “I never got fascinated with the happenings that attract girls but rather loved to participate in tough tasks,” Sania said, adding that she was like a ‘Tomboy’ character.
Posted first time in Jhansi, Capt Sania says that she has always been inspired by her father Jagdev Singh Chib and mother Anjana Chib (a housewife), who helped her to chase and live the way she wanted to. “I am into the Engineers Unit of the Indian Army and as an engineer, my capabilities as a professional are doubled and I feel proud to be a member of the Army,” she said. “As a woman and an Officer, I want every parent to support their daughters and give wings to their dreams,” she said in a message. “Parents are the ultimate mentors, who are our role models and shape our destinies. They should always stand by their daughters and make them confident in chasing and cherishing their dreams,” she said. The officer desires to serve in her home state if provided an opportunity. Captain Sania had recently led the woman team to re-Launch 60 Feet Bailey Bridge in a day.
She was also instrumental in the successful de-launch of the 50 ft SSBB last month. The women’s team created history by re-launching a 60 ft SSBB on January 23 this year, which was constructed on Jan 2, 1986 during the period of crisis. A few years back a replacement bridge was constructed and the Bailey bridge was not in use but the Captain Sania led the women’s team in de-launching the 35 year old Bailey Bridge successfully.
