Los Angeles, March 8: Best known for starring alongside legendary Rock’n Roll star Elvis Presley in the film “Girls! Girls! Girls!”, Laurel Goodwin, who enjoyed a long and extensive career in Hollywood has passed away. She was 79.
The actress died on February 25 in Cathedral City of unspecified causes, international media reported on Tuesday.
In the 1962 movie, Goodwin played the wholesome rich girl Laurel Dodge, who tried her best to win Elvis’ affection. However, she is mainly remembered for sharing a dance with the rock star during a heartwarming scene.
Later she starred in the 1963 movie “Papa’s Delicate Condition” after appearing in two episodes of “Beverly Hills Hillbillies”.
She was also part of Mel Brook’s 60s spy series “Get Smart”. Goodwin was among the last surviving members of the original Star Trek cast, having been cast in a rejected “Star Trek” pilot episode in 1965. Despite this, Laurel had a choice as she had received offers to make pilots for two network comedies. Speaking openly in an interview for StarTrek.com in 2016, the legend explained: “I said, ‘Oh, no. Star Trek is it. I’ve got to do Star Trek. It’s great, it’s gonna be wonderful.”
