Buldhana/Nagpur, Nov 19 : Congress leader Nana Patole on Saturday said those criticising former Congress President Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on V D Savarkar should first explain why the Hindutva ideologue was getting Rs 60 as pension from British rulers. Rahul Gandhi had claimed that Savarkar had helped the British and written a mercy petition to them out of fear. “Those who criticised Rahul Gandhi for his comments on Savarkar should first reply why Savarkar was getting a pension of Rs 60 from the British,” Patole said. He said the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” had evoked an unprecedented response from people in Maharashtra. Due to this yatra, the people have got the strength to respond to the fear, hatred and terror created by the BJP, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) chief said. Talking to reporters at Jalamb in Buldhana district, the MPCC President said the Congress believed in non-violence and the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” had become a mass movement. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said the grand old party was celebrating November 19 as ‘Kisan Vijay Diwas’ as it was on this day last year that the three farm laws were withdrawn by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after protests.
